Marshmallow 6.0 for Note 5?

Why is it that every carrier except AT&T has updated Note 5 to Marshmallow. TMObile released theirs yesterday. We are the only carrier without it! Makes me want to switch!

Trying to understand why I should concider upgrading to a Galaxy S7 with At&t, since having a note 5 for three months resulted in a bad device that was attempted to be replaced with a refurbished one. And still remains 6 moths behind the industry for the Marshmallow update. Would this continue to remain the issue with an S7 as well. Is there any systems in place to keep the ATT Samsung pairing as current as the other carriers? Perhaps you can explain the reasons to continue a relationship with ATT and Samsung with this upgrade?

show me a carrier besides verizon that has updated the note 5 to MM in the US?  How about any other galaxy phone for that matter?

Re: Why would I?

Believe me when I say that I feel you as far as having to wait so long for the update.  It's also unfortunate that you had to go through what you did with your Note 5.  Those things being said, I'm afraid I have to echo glimmerman's remark that ATT is developing quite the record of being the very last carrier to release an update, if they even release it at all.  They'll tell you that they're just trying to do the best thing for the customer and make 100% sure the update will run smoothly on their network and on the specific device being updated.  I, however, am of the opinion that the carrier has to spend so much time with updates in order to get all of their bloatware functioning halfway decently.  I believe this primarily because, oftentimes, the software update still has several bugs in it when it's released and, after the update, there are still all of these att apps there that don't work half the time you try to use them, and that the majority of customers never use half of anyway. Frustrating, I know, but, it's like glimmerman said too, we either have to; deal with it, change carriers, get an unlocked phone, or get a Google/ Nexus phone.  Stinks, but, it's the way the carrier branded cell phone world works. As far as the issue of replacing your new Note 5 with a referbished one, I have to say, that's a pretty common occurrence too, unfortunately.  I learned during my time as a Verizon rep that companies are always going to try and replace your phone with a referbished one first if they have them in stock.  So far as I know, the only cell phone manufacturer with whom you stand a chance of getting a new one instead of a referbished one is Apple.  The way that whole situation worked when I was a rep was, if they didn't have any referbished one in stock, then you got a new one.  Which you probably would have if Samsung had the same thing going since your phone is so new.   Weird, but, again, it's what you've got do deal with nowadays if you're with one of the big carriers.

Jeez really? Verizon, Sprint for that matter everyone and their mother are updating to marshmallow and we can'talk even get an accurate date or comment from the company we paid a premium price for these phones. We did get a security patch that socks the life out of your battery though.

But notice one thing...  both those carriers are CDMA carriers.  Makes me think something is wrong with the first build samsung sent tmo and ATT.

Re: Note 5 Marshmallow Update

Really sprint and verizon release before AT&T? REALLY?

GOOGLE and the Carriers have got to get a handle on how to update simultaneously. One reason apple is so fast is there is NO bloatware on their phone. Therefore the carrier review is null.....Kill the bloatware...

I like android but really comsidering going back to iOS permanently just because of the inexcusable issue of not being able to update phones timely.

@cogic740

Have you read the complaints on Verizon forum?   They didn't test enough.  Bluetooth problems, wifi problems, battery drain, bricked phones.....  This is why testing is important.

Updates are no benefit unless they work well.

LOL!  Show off!

Carrier software variants = delay in upgrades, impatient customers, possible problems.

Re: Update

Hi @Marklott1!

Thanks for posting!
AT&T is working hard to make the Marshmallow update available for as many Android devices as possible. We conduct extensive testing on OS updates before releasing to ensure our customers continue to have a great experience with the network, services, and device features.
Generally, we're unable to post information on device updates until the day of release, or forecast availability of any OS update.
Rest assured when available, you will receive a notification on your device with step-by-step instructions to update your software.

We appreciate your continued business with AT&T!
