Galaxy s6 unlock

Hi, I have purchased an unlocked AT&T Galaxy S6 about 4 months ago with intention of using it outside US.

However, when I travelled abroad it refused to work with another provider's SIM card, asking for an unlock code.

I went through process of requesting one, waited for 2 business days, got a message saying that AT&T needs MORE time, and then got my request DENIED saying the device was purchased less than 6 months ago.

My question is: What kind of UNLOCKED phone is it when I PAY FULL price and I am still restricted to ATT only??? I was not aware neither I was warned about this when buying this "unlocked" phone.

It is causing me BIG inconvenience now, so please please please, is there a way to get my FULLY PAID FOR, UNLOCKED phone to work as I need it to work?

Hello @skasyanov

I'm sorry to hear you've been unable to get this device unlocked.

Please bear in mind that all AT&T branded devices purchased via our website or in-store are sold locked even if they have been bought at full retail price.

If the device meets all eligibility requirements then it can definitely be unlocked.

If you purchased the device via a third party retailer advertising it as unlocked, I would recommend that you contact them directly for compensation or so they can provide you with an unlocked device.

Please let us know if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Thank you,

Michelle

I am a costumer of H2O Wireless (Locus Telecommunications reseller of AT&T). Over the last 3 years I have been frequently traveling to Western and Eastern Europe and I need to have an unlocked phone to work with any carrier in Europe. My previous phones (iPhone 4 and 5) were also locked to the AT&T network and I did not have any problems with unlocking them through the AT&T webpage until now. My nightmare started a few days ago when I tried to unlock my iPhone 6 over the AT&T unlock webpage. The big surprise came after two days when my request was denied. I called AT&T and asked for them to explain why my request was denied, and they said it was denied because the phone is active on another persons account. I don't see how this is possible that on the AT&T Cellular network there are two phones with the same IMEI. Something must be totally wrong with the AT&T database. I use my phone daily through the H2O carrier (Locus Telecommunications), which actually uses the AT&T network, but I am NOT an AT&T customer and I do not have any account with AT&T. I spoke to about four different AT&T representatives, and each person gave me different answers and explanations. The first person told me to call my service provider (Locus telecommunications from H2O wireless). He even called them himself and asked them how the phone can be unlocked. He then informed me that he spoke with H2O and a guy named John said that they can unlock the phone with no problem and that I simply had to call them myself and he provided me with their phone number. I spoke with three people from Locus telecommunications and everyone denied what the rep from AT&T told me. I asked for a Locus supervisor and I did a three-way call with AT&T and Locus telecommunications to try to clarify what is the actual truth. Locus told AT&T that they cannot unlock the phone since it is locked to AT&T. Shouldn't the representative from AT&T know that? After we finished, I knew clearly that only AT&T has the ability to unlock my phone, and all the information that I have received from AT&T about who can unlock the phone was wrong. I spent almost two hours on the phone trying to find out something that I thought would be simple, but I got no where. I was most shocked when I made another phone call to AT&T and was told something completely different from a rep named Harold who probably doesn't have a clue of what he is doing. I asked for a supervisor, and after a couple of minutes I was connected to a woman named Maria employee # *****. (This time I made sure I asked for the employee # because this was already beyond my imagination of what can happen this time.) She told me something completely different. She said the only way to unlock my phone was to go to an AT&T store. I was hours on the phone trying to be nice and patient and no one was able to remedy my problem or tell me what I had to do since each person told me something different. It has been over a week and I still don't know how to unlock my phone. Phone was purchased over the Internet from the NPS store in Salt Lake City, UT. I have the invoice and I paid full price for it.

even tho your phone is thru H2O its still active on the ATT network that is why you are getting the error you are.  why CS could not figure this out is beyond me.  The problem is how H2O does business with ATT.

Hello @PrimeHater

Thanks for posting your question, I’m happy to help!

You can absolutely request your phone be unlocked without being an AT&T customer.

Please go to AT&T Device Unlock Portal then once you accept the terms of agreement you can select that you are not an AT&T customer and complete the unlock request.

Hope this helps!

I did the unlock request got the link to confirm in the email and the clicked it, it redirects me to the at&t device unlock portal and says the link is expired, and that I need to submit a new request, so I try submitting a new unlock request but then it says the email ( that doesn't work) needs to be confirmed.???

I requested and received an unlock code for my SGH-i747. My problem is that when I enter the correct unlock code my phone says that the unlocking was unsuccessful! I am aware that after 5 unlock attempts the phone will be permanently locked to the AT&T network. I have tried at least twice... HELP!!!!!
