Cannot send group text message, Galaxy S7

Ever since this new addition of Advanced Messaging, I've been unable to reply to one of my ongoing group texts. I mainly get an error stating that it's unable to send the message and gives me the option to resend, edit or delete. Sometimes I get a spinning wheel, but mostly it's the former. I've gone through and deleted the message app cache and data, and that works temporarily to quickly get out a message, but in the end, it goes right back to giving me a problem. I get the Advanced Message into window and then past that I get a notification pointing to the group chat I'm having a problem with and says "this group is advanced message capable." And that's it. After that shows up, I'm no longer able to message there anymore.

I'm not really sure what to do at this point I've been searching the internet for hours.

Okay, @JazzieCherry , sorry this doesn't work for you, it's really of the best "work around" that we've come up with, so far.

Have you tried the backup/reset/restore process, at all?  It takes maybe 15-20 minutes, if you have a LOT of messages, possibly a bit longer if you have a lot of "data intensive" MMS texts, but it should "fix" the problem, in a round-about sort of way (I'd be REALLY surprised if it doesn't).

I get that it'd be "great", if the AT&T server-side team fixed it, but I'm just not seeing them doing this, at least not in a hurry, for text-threads that are already "corrupted", like you have here.

I do suspect they've either fixed the "corruption problem" itself, or are at least working hard on that side, but that would only affect "new message threads", or the "threads you restore", if you decide to go that route...

Let's look into that for you, @SamsungBrettS7!

To get started, are ordinary, individual text messages delivering to recipients okay?

Looking forward to your reply.

Yes, I can send individual texts just fine. Even to the people who are included within the group text I'm trying to reply to.

Something new to add, I received a text within the group text last night. So, that's working. I just can't reply or send anything within the group text. Figured I'd update on the new development.

The link you provided doesn't actually show me how to do what you're suggesting I do. I tried to follow the instructions anyway from the device support by answering questions, but it still didn't fix my problem. It tried to direct me back to the community or back to the beginning of the device management, where I started.

Hi @SamsungBrettS7

I've looked into the matter for you. We are currently in the process of updating Advanced Messaging, so some devices running older software are having issues with the feature. Make sure your device software and carrier settings are up to date and that should sort the issue out. Hope this helps!

Ok, so I waited to get home so I could have wifi to install the update. I ran it and let it go through everything. After completed, I went back to that group text to see if I could send anything. I saw that I was getting in a bunch of messages from that group while my phone was down, updating. However, when I tried to send a message into the conversation, I received the same error message that I was getting before I did the update.

Hi @SamsungBrettS7

Try starting a new group text thread and see if the issue persists. If so, we can escalate from there.

I really was trying to avoid that so I wouldn't have to delete all of the information within the thread. Whenever I tried to start a new message, and add the people I wanted to talk to, it would just throw me back into the old conversation. I've gone ahead and deleted the whole thing now though and started a brand new group text. It seems to be working just fine now.
