Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge notification sound not working

I recently got my upgrade to the Galaxy S7 edge. The notification sound has stopped working. I have checked the settings, rebooted the phone, changed the sound and nothing has fixed the issue. How can I fix this?! I am on call for work, so not having my notification sound working is a huge problem.

Hi @HDicks

Thank you for posting your question in AT&T Community Forums! We apologize for the issue you are currently having with the notifications on the your new Galaxy S7 Edge device! We understand the importance of having those notifications working. We want you enjoying that new device as soon as possible!

A few things we suggest checking are the sounds and alerts on the device. You can access the device tutorial through the Device Support on the AT&T website, click on Sounds & Alerts.

We recommend making sure the Vibrate or Silent features are not enabled. To do this, you will:

  1. Press the Volume keys located on the side of the device to adjust the volume.
  2. Reduce the volume until the Vibrate icon appears to enable Vibrate mode. When Vibrate mode is active, the Vibrate icon will display in the notification bar.
  3. Reduce the volume until the Silent icon appears to enable Silent mode. When Silent mode is active, the Silent mode icon will display in the notification bar.
  4. Swipe down from the notification bar and tap the Settings icon.
  5. To access additional volume settings, from the QUICK SETTINGS menu tap Sounds and Vibration.
  6. Adjust settings as desired.
  7. To change the notification sound, tap notification sound.

To block or unblock notifications from appearing when the device is locked, go to Settings → Lock screen and security → Notifications.

If that is already set on the device, one other location to check on is the notifications for the messaging on the device. You can access this by going into Settings → Applications → Applications Manager → Scroll down to Messages. From there you can make sure that the notifications is not blocked.

You can always find your device’s troubleshooting tutorials and user manual through AT&T Device Support.

Hope this helps! Thank you for choosing AT&T for your wireless services!

My toddler was playing with my phone, sliding his fingers all around, and my text sound wouldn't work anymore after that no matter what I tried. Here's what worked for me- using the volume down button on the left side of the phone, silence your phone. Then, using the up button on the side of your phone turn the volume back up, BUT PAY ATTENTION!- on the little screen showing the volume going back up there is a little, bitty down arrow- CLICK THAT! Magically a menu appears I couldn't find anywhere else. That is how you control volume for your notifications (assuming you have them turned on under settings.) My notifications volume was turned down- tricky boy! Hope this helps!

Solved for us: We had the Join Hangout sound selected and it did not work, but when we selected a different sound it worked.
