Samsung Galaxy Note 3 GPS Issue
Anyone else having issues with their Note 3 GPS? I'm having an issue were every time I plug or unplug the charger from my phone the GPS drops out. I have to then toggle the GPS on/off in my quick settings to get it working again while navigating. It also seems to drop the signal when I get an incoming phone call while using the navigation app. I have confirmed this same behavior on 2 other friends Note 3's. I'm hoping this is just a software issue that will be fixed in a future os update.

I have noticed that the "Lost GPS Signal" Issue does not occur on Iphone 5 when using Google Maps even though the Weather Channel App is installed. So does this mean that the Andriod version of the Weather Channel App is buggy?

Android version may well be more "buggy" but your leap in logic does not prove it either way. The iPhone is a completely different device, different OS, different radio hardware. Making a one-to-one comparison is inconclusive at best. Many factors can be at play.
Although it is true that developing for Android tends to be more challenging for software companies, as there is a much larger variety of hardware devices they need to program and test for.

Hello everyone, there are no known hardware issues that I know of, it is possible that some app is causing it and as jam_out_man reported, a factory reset might be a solution. You can contact technical support for some troubleshooting, but make sure to back up all of your personal data first. If you want a specialist to contact you directly, please send us a private message by clicking here with your name, phone number and the best time you can be reached.
Thank you,

Because it may not be an issue that everyone is experiencing. At least one response above indicated that a factory reset solved the issue for that person, which indicates it was an app or setting on the phone that was interferring with the GPS.

Factory reset does not solve alot of the issues with the note 3. Root ... get rid of all the bloat. At&t answer to everything....do a factory rest. If its a problem with system app that will not fix a problem. I was having problem with wifi saying..." your wifi connection is unstable" at&t had no idea why. How to fix...go to phone press *#0011# press menu press wifi then turn off wifi power save. I showed an At&t employee how to do that...hmmmm

Turning off the weather app and uninstalling apps that require location seems to help somewhat if you have early GPS issues. But it seems like the longer the location apps are active, the longer GPS chip is active trying to do computation for both maps andlocation applications it increase the likely hood of overheating the GPS chip and damaging itself. My note 1 had that exact problem, i didn't know about the locations apps and 1 year later the GPS quit working permenently. Now having similar issues with Note 3, but turning off location apps does help a lot.

Could you please give us a list of apps that requires location? Does turning off GPS when not in use helps preserve the GPS chip?
Thank you.
