Note 5 September Update stuck on loading screen

Last night my phone updated with the September update: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KB426900.  I wasn't watching it during the update process but before I went to bed I could see that the screen was black with just a white unlock symbol with circular rotating lines that change from green to blue around the unlock symbol.  I assumed it was part of the update so I left my phone plugged in until this morning.  However, it is still in the same screen state.  All buttons are non-responsive.  It seems to be hung.  Any suggestions?

I went to the AT&T service center and they were able to get things working.  The solution to the unhanging the device was as simple as doing a hard reset: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00048187/.  The phone was backed up and factory reset then the update was applied and the previous data was put back on the phone.  So far things look fine.  I just need to reconfigure my phone because not all settings are stored on the cloud.
