I have a Samsung Galaxy S6 Active and a Note 5, these phones are over priced and have very poor antenna designs. My cell signal on the Note 5 is useless and the Active is a little better. It definitely is the phones that are a problem, I put my Sim card in an old unlocked Google play store Nexus 6 and an Honor 8 unlocked phone and both of those phones have a much better signal than my AT&T branded Samsung phones. AT&T is no help they just keep replacing the Sim card which does absolutely nothing to help with my low signal strength and my Note 5 keeps trying to use LTE Band 30, which is the worst, my signal strength on that band is always sitting around - 119 which means I miss calls all the time. I'm done with Samsung phones for good and if AT&T keeps pushing out band 30 with no improvement then I'm done with AT&T, I pay a lot of money for 4 lines of service every month I should expect to get somewhat decent cell service without having to go buy non AT&T phones, which ironically, work much better on their network than their own branded phones.

@Pac757

Glad this came up....  I provide pet care services and was recently pet sitting in an ATT dead zone.  I have 2 phones, neither from ATT.  Moto pure edition and a Pixel I bought from Google.  The Pixel had 2-3 bars, the Moto had nothing.

The antenna on the Nexus 6p, 5x and the pixel phones is stronger than other phones as they were designed to work on Google Fi, which is still rather sparse.

As for your current phones, they were manufactured by Samsung, not ATT.   It would be a good idea to complain to the source of the problem..   ATT is just the retailer.
