How can I modify Wireless Security for NVG510?

I know it has to be easy, I just can't find step-by-step directions specific to AT&T and U-verse.

Hi nettie

I was able to locate your U-verse account and I see the gateway (modem) you have the Motorola NVG510 and you are correct, it is a fairly simple process. Here are some steps that will help you secure your network.

  • Open a Web browser and enter http://192.168.1.254 into the address bar.
  • Choose the Home Network tab at the top
  • Choose the Wireless sub-tab underneath
  • It may ask for a Device Access Code. By default, it is located on a sticker on the modem.
  • On the Security Drop down, change it to WPA-PSK or WEP-Manual
  • In the field marked Key, type in the password you wish to use
  • Click Save before leaving this page and that will cause your network be secured with your own password.

Here is a picture of what it should look like. (Screenshot attached below, click image to enlarge)

Hi morgan b

Thank you for the information. I didn't want to do anything that would mess up

my modem or cause a cancellation of my service.
