have to be <3 ft for volume and power to work on remote

Recently the response for volume and power on my remote only works inside of 3 feet.  Have changed remotes and receivers.  All other functions work > 3ft distance.

nasarmento - Are the batteries up to snuff??

Volume and power are the only thing that affects the TV. Is the TV sensor blocked?? Does the TV work with the TV remote??

Do you have another remote to try swapping to see if it is the remote??

If it is the remote, see if it impacts the STB volume - program att/ok - 955- enter. This will cause the volume control to follow the mode button.

In att mode, set volume to 15. In TV mode, set volume to comfort level.

While watching in att mode you will be able to vary volume.

You hit the nail on the head, I was given a cute statue which I placed on the file drawer under my TV....it was tall enough that it was covering the sensor on the TV.

Thank you!

nasarmento - Thanks for letting me know. I thought it might be that because I had a similar experience with my clock/caller ID display.
