Why does my Genie remote continuously need to be re-synced to Genie Mini?

I have been having quite a few problems with my Genie remote (RC71) over the past few weeks. I understand that I can program my remote to my Genie Mini by holding the mute and enter buttons for a few seconds. However, after programming the remote and watching a program for a an hour or so, I go to use the remote and it has become disconnected from the receiver. I repeat my steps in programming the remote to the receiver, and then it seems to be fine. Lately, I have had to reprogram the remote over and over and over and over, with no end. It will not stay linked to the receiver at all. Does anyone know if there is a solution or trick to getting this corrected? Is my equipment just faulty?

This doesn't just happen on one receiver, this has happened on multiple receivers. Could it be that all are defective?

How many RC71 remotes do you have?   What are the models of all of your DirecTV DVRs, Receivers and Mini Clients?
