Would this Japanese phone work on AT&T Prepaid?
Hi all. I am looking at this used phone to buy from Japan (it's the Panasonic DMC-CM1 btw). I looked up their website and the following is supported by the phone:
【4G (LTE)】
Support band: FDD Band 1, 3,
4, 5, 7, 8, 20 Category: 4
【3G (WCDMA)】
Support band: FDD I, IV, V, VIII
HSDPA Category: 24
HSUPA Category: 6
【2G (GSM)】
Support band: 850, 900, 1800, 1900
GPRS / EGPRS: Class 10
Additional info- "not sure if it would help":
| Usable frequency range (center frequency) | 2412 MHz to 2462 MHz (1 ch - 11 ch) |
Would it fully work on AT&T including LTE?

That is a great question!
AT&T PREPAID uses a GSM based network operating on the following frequencies/bands:
It looks like the Panasonic LUMIX Communication Camera CM1 (DMC-CM1) supports the 3G (WCDMA), and 4G (LTE) frequencies/bands required to use the AT&T PREPAID Network.
The LUMIX DMC-CM1 uses a microSIM card which can be ordered here, or by visiting an AT&T store. For details on rates, feature packages please visit us att.com/prepaid.

Thanks for pointing that out. Please allow me to clarify.
I was working off North American specifications only.
Its not the bands used, as much as its the usable frequency range. Looking back at your original post (OP) you noted the Japanese models usable center frequency ranges 2412/2462MHz (1 ch - 11 ch), whereas AT&T operates at 850/1900Mhz 3G WCDMA/UMTS/HSDPA/HSPA+, and up to 2300MHz 4G LTE.
We encounter this often with BYO Devices made solely for the Japanese, or South Korean markets. The DMC-CM1 will have an IMEI. Here's a tool you can use to double check to make sure the device works on our network using the IMEI.

I see you linked to the US version from the Panasonic website. The US version has different supported bands as follows:
The Japanese version (the one I am looking at, because I can't find the US version anywhere) has the bands shown in the original post. I will paste them again below for your convenience:
【4G (LTE)】

My question is: Did you mean in your post that the Japanese version with the bands listed above should work on AT&T? Do you need to match all bands or just one band? Panasonic support told me they cannot guarantee any overseas phone to work here which I can understand, they don't want to take any chances I guess.
The phone is unlocked, so if the bands match, it should work.
I would appreciate your clarification!

The bands AT&T posted are the ones required.
WCDMA/3g 2 and 5 (850 and 1900)
The primary LTE band is 12/17. Without it you will likely be on 3g service all the time.

So I guess if the frequency is out of range, then the phone will not even pick up any signal?

From the information in your OP it appears that way. To be sure please check out the BYOD tool to check the IMEI before your buy.
