Commonly Asked Questions

When can I upgrade with AT&T Next or AT&T Next Every Year

After you have been billed and made two monthly installment payments, as long as your account is in good standing, you are eligible to take advantage of our pay-to-upgrade option. For AT&T Next, pay a lump sum amount that fulfills 80% of the retail price in order to upgrade with eligible trade-in. Please note that to trade in your smartphone, it must be fully functional and in good physical condition.

The smartphone is yours, and you're responsible for the monthly installment payments. You're also responsible for any loss, theft, or damage to the smartphone—both during the installment agreement period and afterward. We recommend you purchase the optional mobile insurance to protect your investment.

How are you losing money? You’re just paying off the phone in installments. If anything it’s break even. Does Apple offer installment payments?

Would be tricky getting out of att next and over to Apple would have to time it right

@alpinewhite

You have to pay off 50% on Next every year, then return the phone.  It’s worth 3/4 of its retail value on Swappa or eBay.  That’s a loss to me.

Yes, it’s called ‘Apple upgrade program’. It’s 24 months with a yearly upgrade option and Apple care plus included.  And it’s not new.  It’s 3 years old.

Liz ,

We have done this ridiculous dance before. Not interested in Ebay and don’t care about selling this iPhone did that since 3GS till 6 and now sorry the market is flooded thanks to the Next and other plans like it. And frankly to me it’s not worth the time.

Also your 100% wrong about the Apple Upgrade Program. They are only allowing users to get Pre - Approved as of the 23 rd so they can complete the purchase in same time as the rest of us and get a chance at reported 2-3 million phones at PreSale. You need to give correct information if your going to respond to me. This is on Apple- MacRumors- Apple Insider- Cult Of Mac-iMore and every other site clear as day.  And here is my personal favorite 9to5Mac which tells you why they can get pre approved. You can ignore the usual headline which like most journalism today is true but misleading in fact. See paragraph 3 for clarity.

I had a specific question and posting here is a rarity to begin with. All I wanted was an answer to a simple question which you didn’t even address. Why respond if your not answering my question in the first place?

Thank you

And then you will complain about about the Next return phone process?  (Again).   Have to wonder why you would put yourself through it.

We see what you see on the website.    And any ATT employee will quote party line. If you want the Upgrade every year option and ATT doesn’t change the website on sale date, then buy through Apple.

pfft... (again) hey keep continuing to give out wrong information your pretty good at it. Skirt ruffled?

Why respond interjecting what you *feel yet adding no substance and giving absolutely incorrect info about it.

I mean I never see you in Apple Community.

I’m done with this thread unless I’m notified of an answer from a user who may have had same issue. All I ever posted here for... silly me thinking that’s how a user community worked since usenet/user to user web boards. Same as my “complaints about flawed return process” short of the obvious.

What was the question?

In your first post in this thread I saw a statement that ended with three question marks but it wasn't a question. You pointed out something ridiculous but I'm missing the question.

(The price on Next Every year is going to be 1/24th of the phone price.)

Does it matter now or did you drift over just to say *ridiculous ? Either way thanks but no thanks. Have a wonderful afternoon.

How is “we see what you see” and “employees will quote the party line”  incorrect?

And how is participation in Apple forums, or not, an issue?   I already posted information on Apples upgrade program in an earlier post.

As for solution, ATT already posted all information and marked it solved.

Your question was about where the every year option was.  My answer was, it isn’t there now, and if it doesn’t show on the sale date, you can buy from Apple.  How hard is that?

Preappoval for Apple program does not obligate anyone to buy on the 27th.

Look plain and simple  I asked a question you told me about other nonsense I never asked about.

And had no bearing at all on if the 24 month option will be available or just 30 month as all ATT ads had been to date. You did not answer what I asked until your second response to me. The posts stand above in proper order. They are clear and simple to understand.

Lol 😂 you know you were wrong about Apple Program getting ahead in the line EVER.

To both my self and to previous poster I believe.

It does no such thing and never has. Fact of the matter is they only started the pre approval based on last years Apple Program users being left out on 7 at the start to which Apple contacted the users to make amends.

Since you want the last word go ahead it’s all yours.
