Surprised of New Charges!
Was at walmart today to ungrade my cell phone, from a Note 2 to a Note 4. During the process of upgrading, the store (walmart) employee said, are you aware that you will be charged an extra $40.00 a month above my present plan, just because I have a smartphone and upgrading it and I have the unlimited data plan. She said this started this year. At&t is trying their best to get me to leave them...anyone else get this "Surprise"???

That is not true. You will pay a $40 upgrade fee, but that is a one time fee, not monthly.
That Walmart rep was mis-informed.

It's also possible that the WalMart employee was confusing the account for the newer Mobile Share accounts, where if you upgrade with a contract, your monthly fees for the talk & text portion of the line will go up to $40 (not by $40). I agree that the WalMart person was just trowig out numbers that they've heard without knowing any details behind any of them, and was probably wrong about all of them...
