Google Pixel 3 and ATT

Google Pixel 3 and ATT

On this page https://www.att.com/plans/google-pixel.html AT&T states:

Step 1: Bring your Pixel, keep your number

Bring an unlocked Google Pixel to AT&T. You can buy your Pixel phone from Google or port your Pixel phone number from another carrier to AT&T.
Step 2: Choose your plan
Sign up for a wireless plan that matches your needs or add a line on your existing account.
I'm just looking for clarification -- do I have to get a new plan or add a line to my existing account? All I want to do is purchase a Pixel and use my existing number/account without adding any lines.

Re: Google Pixel 3 and ATT

Hi, @achorn,

The promotion you noticed is for starting new service with AT&T. You could definitely buy a Pixel 3 through Google and make it your device for your current AT&T service. We recommend checking to see if you're currently eligible for an upgrade on your device. If you aren't, you may be asked for the remainder of the cost on your current device if it hasn't yet been paid off.

Have a great week!
