volume control

The volume cannot be made loud enough to hear the caller on the ATT Cingular Flip2 mobile phone.  I've tried many adjustments but the caller can hardly be heard.  The ringtones and other volume settings go up to #15, but the call mode only goes up to #7.  Can anything be done to made the call mode louder.  This is supposed to be a senior citizen phone but even a good hearing person can hardly hear the caller and if there is any outside noise, forget it.

If the above does not help, the next best step to resolving this issue would be to factory reset the device. Our Device Support tool is a great online resource which provides step by step instructions on how to attempt a reset.

We have the same phone we purchased for our 82 year old mom with the same issues.  Finally, I realized the plastic sheet was still on the phone that covers the screen and speaker on the phone.  I removed it and now we can hear calls and messages perfectly.  When we purchased the phone at the AT&T Store and the salesman activated the phone, we asked him to make a call and make sure it was working the way it should.  He should have noticed the volume was very low and taken the plastic sheet off the screen and speaker!  We had almost given up on this phone since the volume was so low even all the way turned up to the highest setting.

Don't feel bad because that is exactly the reason why we had the problem with our phone.  The plastic covering was so perfect and the tab so hard to see that not only did we miss it, but the guy who activated the phone at the AT&T store also did not see it.  After a lot of trouble shooting with no success, we decided to take it to another AT&T store and the young guy noticed the small tab right away.  Consequently, after removing the plastic film the volume was perfect.  The manufacturer should either make the tab bigger or make the film in color.
