Hey there @codernf!

I’m sorry to hear about that strange error message you’ve been getting! That would be annoying for sure!

It sounds like the SIM card may have fallen out of alignment within the phone. So every once in a while it jostles in and out of place causing the phone to send you that alert not to remove it.

I would suggest powering everything off, and removing the SIM card. Then, if you have a soft cloth, try gently wiping any debris off the card (in case the contacts are dirty), and reseat it!

If you see any dust in the SIM port itself, trying blowing into it very gently (like a SNES catridge!) as it could be the phone's contacts that are dirty as well.

I hope that helps out! Have a fantastic day, we’re always happy to assist here in the Community Forums!

Question, I just bought this same phone Sat, I bought it home and have not even switched my sim yet, there is none in it and it's not yet activated, I was planning to do so tonight. However, (disclaimer, the following sounds crazy I'm sure but I am trying to leave a highly abusive marriage to a man who uses technology, voyeurism and fear to accomplish as well as conceal- and has paid friends including a corporate IT employee of att to aide in even "tapping" my wifi as per Comcast and somehow grabbing sim info off each phone in my home as well. That's probably not worded properly, I am not nearly as adept at this as I wish yet) Could this have anything to do with the message about Sim card hot plug alert? There were also a few others with similar but not the same wording , which disappeared when tapped. ? I don't want to change the sim on a new phone and have the same trouble, I am trying to safely end this situation.

Hi @Scarlett_Fire!

I’m sorry to hear you are going through this situation. That has to be absolutely stressful.

If you’re still getting the SIM card hot plug alert after cleaning your SIM, I’d recommend replacing it. You can get a new SIM at any AT&T Company store and they will be happy to activate a new SIM on your line.

You mentioned something about an IT employee helping with possible tapping of Wi-Fi.

We take privacy seriously. This is not something we tolerate and is unacceptable from any employee.

I’d like you to please send a message @ATTMobilityCare so we can get more information on this individual. Please include your first and last name and a good contact number.

Thank you!
