Using a HTC desire V on AT&T

phone specs GSM/GPRS/EDGE: tri-band 900/1800/1900 MHz

my question is the phone is made for europe so will it work with only being able to use the 1900MHZ or dose it need to be compatible with both the bands att uses 850MHZ and 1900MHZ that att uses, and i live in south San Diego is makes any difference
