Stupid Strive Question

Stupid Strive Question

Hi,

I just got my Strive yesterday.  So far I have one question (I'm sure I'll have more).  My question is...  In the calendar, how do you get the am to pm?  Thanks for any help you can give me!

Re: Stupid Strive Question

From the owner's manual:

It's gotta be in one of these sections.

Calendar Settings
To configure the starting day and view used when opening the
Calendar application.
1. In Idle mode, select Menu ➔ Settings ➔ Applications
Settings ➔ Calendar Settings.
2. Press either of the following fields and edit the information:
• Starting Day: allows you choose which day marks the first day in
your calendar week (Sunday or Monday).
• Default View Mode: allows you to choose the default view for
appointments used by the Calendar application when launched
(Month, Week, or Day).
3. Press Save.

From another section:

Creating a New Event
1. Press Menu ➔ My Stuff ➔ Tools ➔ Calendar.
2. Press Options ➔ Create and press the Right Navigation key.
3. Select one of the following event types and press the
key:

• Appointment
• Anniversary
• Holiday
• Important
• Private
Other options for the Calendar include:
• View: allows you to view a specified date.
• View by: allows you to choose between day view or week view.
• Create: allows you to select an event category: Appointment,
Anniversary, Holiday, Important or Private event.
• Go to: allows you to go to your today’s calendar or that of a
specified date.
• Event List: allows you to refer to your scheduled events stored on
your calendar according to the type of event: Appointment,
Anniversary, Holiday, Important or Private event.
• Delete: allows you to delete a calendar event.
• Calendar Settings: this option allows you to configure the
Calendar’s Starting Day and Default View Mode.
• Missed Alarm Events: this option displays any missed events.
• Used Space: this option displays a list of the different Calendar
event categories along with the memory allocation for each.

Re: Stupid Strive Question

Thanks for responding!  I tried both of those and neither of them worked.  I tried pressing the navigational buttons around the AT&T button and that didn't work either.  You can highlight am, so there's got to be some way to change it to pm.  I'm going to take a nap, then I will keep searching for a solution too.

Naps are always a good thing..

Edit:

I found a very nice FAQ that you should download and save to your computer for a reference.

Also, I was wondering if checking and resetting your time zone might have an affect on setting am/pm on your strive...Probably not, but it was something that sprung up in my head.

Is it reading am/pm when you open the calendar or when you select an event?

Maybe a factory reset is needed to put it back in place. I'd remove my sim card before resetting it though.

How Do I Reset My SGH-A687 (Strive) Phone?

To reset the handset, to the factory default settings, follow the steps below:

  1. While in standby mode, press the right soft key for Menu
  2. Select Settings (#)
  3. Select Phone (5)
  4. Select Reset Settings (6)
  5. Enter the password, using the keypad, default password is “0000”
  6. Press the left soft key for OK
  7. If prompted, Enter the password again to confirm, using the keypad
  8. Press the left soft key for OK
  9. Press the left soft key for Yes to reset the handset's settings to the factory defaults

aye ghost, you and your hard reset advice...

I bet it would work if all other advise fails...

Re: Stupid Strive Question

I did try resetting all my time zone info.  That didn't help.  Not sure I am comfortable doing a factory reset.  I think I will call tech support tomorrow and see what they have to say.  Thanks everyone for your responses!

a hard reset wouldnt do anything for the op if she isnt using the correct button to toggle am/pm to begin with. recommending a  hard reset for everyone for every problem that arises is like telling someone to buy a new car because they cant figure out how to work their cruise control.

Good point. I'll stop advising that avenue.

Re: Stupid Strive Question

Well, that was easy!  I called tech support and all you have to do is highlight am and push the right navigational button button to get to pm.  The weird thing is that I had tried that and it hadn't worked before.  But now it works, so I guess I won't complain.  Thanks all!

Re: Stupid Strive Question

Hey jii, you were right and I was totally wrong. Once again you show me that you know much more that I do.

Scootiecat1999, I am very happy that this was resolved quickly and easily for you. Enjoy your strive.

Re: Stupid Strive Question

take no offense to my sniping your post, bud. there are times when a hard reset is absolutely called for. for the little things however, the hassle of putting everything back to the way they were pre-reset just isnt worth it.

Re: Stupid Strive Question

You know what? None taken. I realize that you are right about the hassle of putting everything back to the way you want it really sucks.

Thanks.
