I went to their web site and it only works with the Solstice 2, not the orginal Solstice. Go their page. On your computer keyboard, hit ctl + f and then type in Solstice into the search box. It only finds the Solstice 2 in the compatability section. So I'm doubting that it will work with the original Solstice.

I use the Jawbone bluetooth system. It ain't cheap but it works every time.

Yup the Original Solstice. As far as an inexpensive Bluetooth? Good question. You need to Google Solstice A887 Bluetooth and research each one you look at to confirm that it will pair with the solstice. It'll be time consuming  but, you will know if it will work or not before you spend your hard earned money.

I have the original Solstice and I have successfully  used BT with Plantronics 520, several Motorola units (don't remember model #), and a Samsung HN1000 (very cheap unit from Newegg) over-the-ear hands free devices.  I also regularly pair with both a Garmin 660 and 760 GPS units.  My phone also pairs with my wife's BT in her 2009 Toyota Camry.  In the case of the GPS' and the Toyota, after pairing, the contact list is transferred  from the phone to the pairing device.

I have also paired with my desktop using a BT (no-name) dongle, my laptop, and also Epson Workforce 600 printer.  I could only pair with the printer and send data to it, but the result was mumbo-junbo.  Don't know why, and not too interested in looking further into it either, but I paired with it.

Make sure both devices honor the same BT version and protocols.
