Moving apps to sd card on a Maven 2

I see that my phone doesn't give me the option to move apps to the sd card. Is there another way around this, or am I stuck with only 8gigs on the phone?

Hi @DumbPhone!

I can definitely help you out with that! I can understand how important it is to have enough space on the phone to be able to save stuff and have available to you at a press of a button! Let’s take a look!

Not all apps can be moved to the SD card. Go into Settings > App Manager and then each individual app. If there is a button visible to move the app over to the SD card, click on it. Keep in mind, some apps are going to be restricted by the developer, you can always provide feedback on wanting to save the app straight through the Google Play Store.

To do a backup of your content onto that of a SD card, you can visit the AT&T Device Support website and view the walk through tutorial. Inserting a memory card (microSD card) into your device allows you to transfer and store contacts, music, pictures, and videos. For the ZTE Maven 2, it can support up to a 64GB microSDHC card. Any media transferred to the microSD card can be accessed through the File Manager after it has been inserted in another device.

  1. To save and paste contacts from the device to the memory card, from the home screen, tap Contacts.
  2. Tap the Menu icon.
  3. Tap Import/Export.
  4. Select Desired location to back up contacts to.
  5. To save music & photos from the device to the memory card tap, from the home screen, the Apps icon.
  6. Tap File Manager.
  7. Tap desired folder.
  8. Navigate to, then touch and hold the Desired file.
  9. Tap the Copy icon.
  10. Tap Local.
  11. Tap SD card.
  12. Navigate to the Desired location, then tap PASTE.

Take care! Thanks for reaching out!

Hi DumbPhone,

did you try this app? It's pretty simple but works in the most times. Called Link2SD, you can find it here: http://freepps.top/apps/utilities/link2sd It moves apk, dalvik-cache (.dex), lib and internal data files into this partition, which the OS mounts on boot, and creates a symbolic link in the original location.

When in settings there isn't a button to move apps to SD card. When downloading any app that states it'll move apps it just take you to settings and you're right back to the same issue. Only thing in settings is to uninstall or clear data.

Apps that are downloaded from play store can't be moved from file manager. In settings there is no option to move apps to SD card. So is there really no way to move them?

Nice to hear from you again @ DumbPhone!

I’m sorry to hear the instructions provided weren’t of assistance, I will be happy to clear this up for you!

Did you get any errors when trying to move the apps? If so, what did it say? Was it with all the apps or only some? You will also want to check the Maven’s software to make sure it is up to date, as this may cause an issue with moving apps.

I would recommend moving your pictures, videos, etc. to your SD card. This way you can free up your device’s storage for apps.

Thank you for your time and letting me assist you. I look forward to hearing from you.

No there is no error if you had the phone in your hand you would realize there is no button to use for this purpose as there is on the first Maven and the Kik app takes up almost 1 gig of space alone thanks for the gift of a useless phone

Hi there @Goodfooddude!

Thank you for your response to the directions I listed above. I will be glad to go over some alternate options in order to create more space starting with app relocation.

Since the latest update for Maven 2, I have found the setting to move apps to the SD card to not be do-able anymore. I apologize in regards to this change!

The current workaround involves backing up apps to your Google account. Therefore you may be able to access your apps at any time during usage.

We are always receiving information regarding the update to this model, if anything changes in settings, we will post the information here! I hope this post was informative. Please enjoy the rest of your weekend!

My fix was to ditch the Maven and buy the Promo. Of course I had to switch
carriers, but I'm a lot happier.
