Flashing .nbh files

I have SPL-1.0, can I safely flash one of Dutty's ROMs? I saw a warning somewhere that SPL-4.0 or higher was needed to flash an NBH to prevent producing a brick but I can't find a SPL-4.x.
Thanks, Willard

Have you attempted to install hardspl? If not, chances are that you don't have it. You can flash an nbh without having hardspl, however to flash a custom one (all the ones on XDA), you do need hardspl. I'm not sure what you mean by spl 4.0, the highest right now is 3.56 if i remember correctly.

You have to install hardspl before flashing a custom ROM. Go here to do that (I suggest 3.28) and then you can flash to whatever Kaiser ROM you want.

Wow, that was quick. I don't know why I couldn't find it when I searched.
Thanks, Willard

Oh, sorry, I already have SPL-1.0 and I have flashed custom ROM in the past with it installed, the question was, do I need SPL-4.0 or higher to flash an NBH?
Thanks, Willard
