Blackberry Key2 data connection issue on att

ATT says I cannot use my data plan with a BlackBerry Key2 because data first has to go through the BlackBerry network. Was working fine before I contacted ATT to register my IMEI. Now I get a message unable to establish a wireless data connection. Any help?

If your having issues with a key 2 be advised ATT will no longer activate one and by 2/2022 or before you will have to get a new phone.

Can someone please confirm. I'm aware at&t wont support the device come next year, but I needed a phone and got the key2 to use till the end of the year. Can I or can I not connect to their networks for the time being?
