ATT Velocity MF923 hotspot won't update firmware

I have a Velocity MF923 as my only internet connection as there is no wired internet available. In December, it started reporting the wrong data usage. Apparently many users are having this problem.

 

The firmware is currently at MF923V2.3. Three days ago, a newer version was available. The first and second days I tried to update, it said my device had the current version and forced me to wait 24 hours to try again. Yesterday it acknowledged there is a new version, began to download it, then failed. I tried it again and it again said I had to wait 24 hours. I tried it again tonight with the same result as last night.

 

This is truly horrible technical support from ATT. Has anyone else had this issue? Have you resolved it?

Hello Steve!

 

I’m sorry to hear you are having some issues getting your hotspot to update. I understand how frustrating it can get being unable to download the latest OS. I will be delighted to provide some options to assist with this.

 

It sounds like what is happening is; the connection is being interrupted or is not strong enough. The first thing I recommend is to go to a place where you know you have a really strong connection and plug in the hotspot. You will want to update it there until the update is complete.

 

The second option is going to be Resetting the device to factory settings before downloading the update. You can find the steps along with diagrams at our Device Support page. Be sure to select the proper make and model, then click on View All Troubleshooting > Troubleshooting > Reset. This will walk you through the process and get you started.

I have the same issue, current version is MF923V1.6 and when I do the check it tells me that the current software is up to date and I can check again in 23 hours and 56 minutes.
