AT&T Homebase NAT
tl;dr want to turn off NAT and router function and pass external IP to other router.
I recently purchased a homebase to replace my other ISP. I have a prosumer setup in my house with enterprise grade firewalls, routers, and switches with APs. I have turned off the wi-fi and DHCP functions on the homebase and connected the ethernet port on the homebase to my router. I have kept the 192.168 scheme that came with the homebase and set my router's WAN port to 192.168.0.2 and put that as the DMZ address. While I can work with this, I would much prefer to turn off the NAT and router function of the homebase and have the external IP passed to the router keeping the load on the homebase to basic modem functions. Is this possible through a CLI or other advanced function not published somewhere? Thanks for the help!

My router
Port forwarding
DMZ
Is this the correct set up to open my Nat type. I'm trying to get Nat type 2 on my PS4 I did use a static IP from my PS4.
As you could see i did port fordwarding, enable upnp, and even used DMZ. But it still shows that it a strict Nat type 3. If anyone could help I would appreciate it.

Hey, I am having the same issues. I did notice that your IP on your port forwarding and your IP on your DMZ is different, Is it supposed to be? Like you, Ive done everything I have found about port forwarding and static ip. I dont understand why it isnt working.

@mitchleckey23 @Planetarystars You have to get the IP address directly from network settings in the PS4 console. After you get that IP, go to Firewall DMZ and eNyerere that IP address in the field there and hit allow. It will need to be done for each console you need to allow through. If you have allowed one through and have another, just delete number in field and do the next (this will not take out what you have already allowed through). Make sure you have deleted any of your port forwarding attempts that you have for the console as if you don’t know the ports and settings this can negate what your trying to do with DMZ. The only thing you need to do is allow it through the DMZ. NOTE: this will NOT change the NAT type in the PS4 settings, this will remain the same. Allowing through the DMZ only lets the homebase know that IP address is okay to pass through unrestricted for online gaming. The NAT will remain the same in PS4 settings but you should be able to play. Good luck

@Baker0957 You cannot open the NAT but you can allow this through the homebase firewall DMZ. See other post by me below about obtaining the IP address from the Switch and entering into DMZ. Click apply. This will not change NAT on Switch but allow its specific IP through the homebase unrestricted. Good luck

@Powpoman see below post from me to learn how to allow games through for online play. It’s a hassle but will work.

@mitchleckey23 Yes, just delete out the port forwards you have in, those are directed
automatically and it can cause it to hang up. Put the IP address that you
obtain from the console itself, then enter it into the field in DMZ,
hit apply. Your NAT in the console (if you run a network check in gaming console)
will not change, but the homebase will let the console's IP address entered to
run through it unrestricted. Hope it helps, it has done just fine on both
of our PS4's. Chelsea

Hey only1chelc06, I set up a static IP on my ps4 192.168.0.15 and then the only thing i did on my homebase is enter that ip into the dmz and hit apply. My friend who has regular internet can chat with other people, and join other people's games. I can join games and chats with others as well. but i cannot join a party or game he is hosting, and he cannot join a party or game i am hosting. Is there something else i need to be doing?

@mitchleckey23 What game are you playing, GTA 5? I sent you a reply on the message you sent, sorry I had missed this one. I need to know what IP address and NAT type your PS4 says when you run a network test. Let me know that and it will help confirm a couple things. Sometimes when you disconnect from the homebase, and have to sign back in from the console, it changes the IP so I want to make sure something did not change there. I know you said you set up a static IP but that does not necessarily mean it is "being used" if that makes sense 🙂

This issue still persists. The only thing you are informing people of is to let a single IP through a firewall. The issue still remains with the NAT because it is built in to the mobile network. It cannot be fixed unless AT&T opens it up. Not only will a Nintendo Switch not let you play Splatoon online, but I can't even get an HP printer to connect to their web services to enroll the printer. The WHPI is only good for basic internet needs.
