Past debt listed on my Experian report
Hi, I'm in the process of applying for a small mortgage. Evidently I have a collections debt with AT&T listed on Experian that I need proof was paid.
I have no idea the account number & calling on the phone has proven to be a serious waste of time as you don't seem to have anyone with the ability to help me.
What do I do ??

Star by googling how to dispute or clear items off your report. It may be an error. Once in dispute the original debtor must prove it valid or remove the item.

go to creditkarma and sign up for the free service look for the debt in question, click dispute, choose the dropdown not my account. type a brief message in the dialogue box, they have 30 days to respond and prove this is your debt.
