How do I get phone records from several years ago?

I am trying to find the number of a family friend from several years ago. I called this person on my wireless phone. I would be able to identify the number as it was in a different state.

Call records are on your monthly bill. The last 16 bills are online, for anything older you must call and ask for a bill reprint. There is a $5 charge for each month reprinted. Make sure you ask for the detailed call records, not just the billing data.

I just called ATT customer service and was told they could not provide me earlier records. Who should I contact at this point?

Sandblaster, Who should we call for this? I need my records to make a criminal complaint.
