11 AT T

I checked my credit a month ago and saw this on my credit. I disputed it right away knowing I've never had an account with AT&T, the dispute came back as my acct. And was staying on my CR. What do I do this is not my bill?

Hello Community,

While this is an older thread, we wanted to make sure that you had an answer if you've come across this post. Here's what you can do if you feel that your identity was used to establish AT&T service without your knowledge.

The first recommended step to take is to file a police report about the incident. Next, in order to dispute that discrepancy, you'll want to present that report to the reporting credit bureaus.

These steps and more can be found under Additional steps to take in case of identity theft when you visit Guard against identity theft:

You can also contact AT&T Global Fraud Management to report an unauthorized account creation:

  • For wireless accounts, call 877.844.5584
  • For digital phone, internet, or U-verse TV accounts, call 888.471.4576

If you have further questions or need support, please post a new question.

Hi @Athena238, if an account was opened with your identity without your permission, you'll want to contact AT&T's Global Fraud Management Organization at 877-844-5584. They'll help you from there.

More info is available here: https://www.att.com/esupport/article.html#!/wireless/KM1159583

If you were never an AT&T customer you cannot dispute a non-existent charge that you never incurred with AT&T. You need to dispute this directly with the credit Bureau.
It doesn't happen often, but occasionally a credit bureau will get an item reported that does not belong to you.
It could be a data entry mistake, or could be an indication of identity theft.

In either case you have to dispute it directly with the credit bureau and they backtrack to prove whether it is yours or not, since you do not have and never have had AT&T it shouldn't be difficult for them to prove it wasn't you.

Thank you for your response honestly I didn't know if anyone was going to respond to my comment but I do appreciate your help and I'm going to try calling the credit bureau you again because earlier when I called them they had me on hold for an hour and a half and then hung up on me after sending me tub fraud management. It just (Edited per community guidelines). Happened with Nevada power too.

I would suggest you Google how to dispute. Usually it has to be in writing. I had incorrect names and incorrect addresses and one item that did not belong to me on my credit report in the past. In each case I had to write to the credit bureau and dispute these items. It would not surprise me if it can now be done online

File a claim on your CR stating this is not yours. Also you might have had a case of identity theft where someone opened an account in your name. Find out as much information about the account in dispute and where you were and your age at the time the account was open. Good Luck

Just got alert notice from one of my credit report company saying my FICO score changed and dropped 4 point because I am delinquent on this 11ATT account that was opened end of February 2018 for $127.00.

I do not have anything regarding 11ATT or AT&T or ATT.

Any suggestions other then contacting (Disputing) CR agencies? 🤔

I have the same problem. Tried disputing with my CR agencies and they say the charge is accurate. I don't know what to do next. This is definitely not my account!

Athena328 did they take it off your credit report because I'm having the same problem and I'm not paying $713 for an account that I did not open and that was not mine. if you had it removed how did you get it done because they're sending me around to different people and nobody's helping me at all.

I am having this same exact problem! When I saw this on my credit report I immediately freaked out then called the actual collections agency....they were not only extremely rude and unprofessional, but refused to help me or give me any information other than demanding I pay the collection amount and also wanted me to give them my social security number as well as my drivers license info...uhm, no! Right away this tells me that this is a scam! For the past 5 days now, I have called EVERY AT&T number and have been transferred to machine after machine and have been told that I will be speaking with a real person....no such luck. AT the beginning, when they kept asking me for my account number before transferring me to a "real person," I kept telling them that I don't have one as I have NEVER had an account with this company, they then told me my name doesn't pull up any account with them, so how then, am I in collections??? I am beyond frustrated at this point and I WILL NOT pay for a fraudulent account. I'm (Edited per community guidelines)!! I just spent all of my unemployment money paying off my credit cards and now this scam hits me. What am I supposed to do now? How can this be resolved? If I get told one more time that no one can help me, I will make sure to tell as many people as I can of this horrible experience and to stay far away from this company. This is awful, how is this company doing this to people, especially during a pandemic!!? I will definitely be contacting the better business bureau as well over this matter, everyone else should do the same!

Well, join the club. Businesses use to act honorably but now since our government doesn't care if they look sleazy nowadays!

Business don't care as well.
