Not able to update

I have a netgear arlo base system hooked to my att router through an ethernet cable, it shows that im connected to wifi but when i try to update the firmware on the base of the netgear it wont update the green light on the router just flashes real quick! Any ideas on how to update this? Ive reset the router and the base station many times!
