No Cell Service At Home

I just bought a new home in a rural area and we have no cell service anywhere in our home or on our 1.5 acre property. We have a family member with Verizon and he does get decent coverage in the home. Is there a way to remedy this without us having to switch providers? We love being AT&T customers!

Hello @KMH520,

We can definitely provide you with some troubleshooting steps for these wireless signal issues that you've been experiencing in your area. We recommend using our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool to fix this. Simply select your device and the issue, then follow the steps to find a solution. If you're still having any issues, please use the AT&T Mark the Spot app to report dropped calls, network issues, and receive network improvement notifications. You can also take advantage of Wi-Fi Calling from AT&T to talk and text over any active Wi-Fi connection. Let us know if this helps.

How can you Mark the Spot if your phone has no signal, no data, no nothing. Not everyone has access to wifi at home either?

@Kel1973 You can still Mark the Spot. The app can determine the location using GPS. It will also gather all the data concerning signal strength from surrounding towers, if there is any. You simply submit the report when you have internet.

My gps feature usually says unable to locate you position or something like that. So apparently my house is hidden from satellites as well. But i will give this a shot. Did not think it would be able to work without a signal, but i hadnt considered the gps, so thanks. Makes better sense now.

You may need to be outside for your phone to get a GPS fix. If you really need to mark the spot from inside, maybe try first outside, then immediately again from inside. The app may “remember” the last location.

Almost 20 years ago I opened an ATT wireless account because it had the best coverage at my rural home.  When they sold to Cingular the signal got weaker and when ATT took the pan back it got even weaker so I do not have any coverage inside and very poor if no signal outside.  People with ATT phones lose signal when they drive into my lane.  The AC repairmen who come to my house have wireless service but they have verizon.  Why has the ATT service in this area declined so much and Verizon service has increased.  Do I have to close my  ATT account after all these years.

We have three iPhones and suddenly today each phone says 'No Service.' I've updated the iOS on my 6 Plus, restarted it, removed and reinstalled the SIM card--all to no effect. It seems like it's more than a just a problem with MY phone. Any ideas???

Hi Sean, We do  not have AT&T coverage at our lake cabin on lake pend oreille but are able to receive calls via wireless calling in our cabin. If we wanted to boost the signal to the beach area would we just add a wifi booster? Also is there anyway to check to see how soon an AT&T wireless tower might go up in my area?

Thanks,

@ATTHelp

Lousy service at the new house I just bought, one tiny little dot of a bar and it takes 10 minutes to text a photo.

I cannot find this AT&T Mark The Spot app in the Google Play Store. What is the current procedure to report a location with bad reception?

Your trouble shooting tool does not have any option to select my phone, a Sony Xperia 5 mk3. Note that this phone is on your list of approved devices. But the tool will not even give me generic advice because my phone is not an option to select.

What exact specification is required for a phone to support wifi calling? This is a brand new phone that costs almost $1000, I'm not understanding why AT&T will not enable it for wifi calling (or for 5g).

Regards,

James

I am beyond annoyed with my ATT wireless service we have had ATT for 2 years and its been nothing but (Edited per community guidelines) since. The only reason I switched from Tmobile to ATT because the sales person said we would have great signal in our area. All lies, my phone hardly ever works when i do have signal its weak on 2 different occasions I needed emergency services and NO SIGNAL. Ive called customer services on numerous occasions escalated the call and never received a call back. This has been beyond stressful to say the least. I have paid thousands of dollars to ATT for phones and service that barely work. I signed up with T mobile but cant use the phone from ATT because its locked. Im not paying ATT another dime Ive sent a dispute to their legal department if nothing comes from it I will take it to small claims court.
