LG V20 little to no connection

I have had the V20 for about 2 weeks now and I thought ATT network was pretty good. I had several people tell to switch to them if I want to get a connection in some remote areas I like to camp at. In town I am lucky to get 2 bars indoors or outdoors. In the rural areas I camp at I get no signal. I did get a bar while campping this past weekend, but when I went to send out a text it dropped too no connection.

Anyone else having problems with the V20 having connection issues to ATT towers?

Hi @sbaugh44!

My apologies! This is definitely not something I like to hear especially when the phone is so new! I can only imagine how upsetting this is to you, so I want to get to the bottom of this and see what might be the cause!

Is the connection spotty regardless of your location or is it more specific to the remote camp areas? You can view the coverage maps and see if the areas you’re traveling to are indeed covered by 3G, 4G, and/or 4G LTE.

You can also use AT&T Mark the Spot. This will aid in reporting dropped calls and network issues. It is available on the majority of devices with a simple download through your App Store.

Lastly, if your device is just not connecting to any form of cellular network service, and are within your 14 days buyer’s remorse period, you can return or exchange the device at any AT&T Corporate store location. Take in your original packaging and proof of purchase if you select to go this route. Keep in mind, there may be a restocking fee.

Take care! Have a fantastic rest of your week!

We were camping here:

Which according to the link you sent me is about here:

[cid:image006.jpg@01D23AB2.6F084B90]

I had no voice, text, or internet.

Since I have been back from camping I am still only getting 2 bars at the very most and it's like that between the city I work in and live in. (Evansville, IN - home, Owensboro, KY - work)

You can See I should be getting all my bars both in and outside. Driving home from work I get a lot of calls that drop out.

I like the phone very well, but I was hoping there was a setting or maybe it's something wrong with this particular phone?? It's just past the 14 day grace period.

I have downloaded the app "Mark the Spot"

Thanks for your email reply.

One thing you can test out is a quick reset of the network settings on the phone. To do that, simply go into Settings > General > Backup & Reset > Network Settings Reset. This will give the phone a quick reboot without losing any of the content on the phone.

You can also access a good amount of troubleshooting tips and tricks through the AT&T website:

To get started, you might need to change the make and model of the phone in the upper left corner to reflect that of the LG V20.

I have tried all your suggestions and links, but 2 bars is the best I can
get even in your best service areas.

Any other suggestions or thoughts?

Scott

I am going to back up @GLIMMERMAN76 on this one. If you’ve tested and gone through all the troubleshooting, but still getting those 2 bars at best, definitely take it into a Device Support Center (DSC). Here you’ll be able to receive free technical support along with warranty advice. Great thing is if there is any issue with the hardware (i.e. antenna connection), you’re still covered under warranty.

Keep up posted!

I am also having this problem.  I live in the middle of my city where this should not be an issue but my new V20 drops the signal constantly.  No texts, no calls, nothing.  My Galaxy did not have this problem so I am really disappointed - love the LG so much but this is a huge problem.  Too late to return it, so I dont know what to do. Spending $300 on a signal booster is not going to happen, esp when I just bought the most expensive phone on the market.  Don't know what to do. 😞

@sugarmagnolia

Read the reply in post 6.  Good advice, and then you will know if it's a faulty phone.

i went to AT&T store and they gave me a new SIM card, which has made zero difference in the fact that people cannot call me on my cell phone if i am inside my house 😞 .  Their solution was to try and sell me internet service and a microcell. I dont want to spend more money, I want this expensive phone to work as it is supposed to - if I wanted internet service I would already have it.  Very frustrated as I am outside the return time frame and am stuck with a very pricey phone which does not work in my home (which is in the middle of a city - I am not out in the sticks!).

I love the LG phone but would trade it in for a Samsung or even a (ugh) iPhone if I could.  😞
