East Bay Area, California, horrible coverage

Is anybody else having horrible voice coverage in the east bay as of late? I checked At&t's coverage map, and it show full and complete coverage for voice as well as data in this area. But that is not my experience.

Coverage used to be good, but in the last few months it has been awful. Trying to have a phone conversation while driving from 680 south to 24 west results in the call being dropped several times. For such a populous area I would have expected better coverage.

It's not just my phone either. Both of my parents have the same issue. Their home, situated just off highway 24, also has horrible coverage. There is one corner of the house from which you can make and receive calls. Everything else is dead.

Again, this has only been in the last few months. It was fine before that. Did something change? Did one of the cell towers go down?

Hello @wanderingtalker,

Welcome to the Community Forums! I am sorry to hear about the low service you are experiencing in your area. I wish to help and provide assistance and let you know of possible options.

Our first step will be our Mark the Spot App. This allows you to report dropped calls, network issues, and receive network improvement notifications. Also, a few things can affect coverage for example are; terrain, weather, network changes, foliage, buildings, construction, signal strength, high-usage periods, customer equipment.

Another source of help will be our Troubleshoot & Resolve Tool. This tool will allow you to login for a personalize experience and let you to choose your Make & Model > Phone Calls.  This will ask you a few questions about your issue and help diagnose and see where the issues are stemming from.

If this is also occurring at home a great option is our Wi-Fi Calling. This can be enable on your device this article here will guide you on how to set this up.

Please let me know how it goes! Have a great rest of your day!

My wife and I have the same issue. We both notice the same issue as mentioned in the posting. Anywhere in the east bay we have terrible coverage. This was never the case. We both are going to move our services away from AT&T. We spoke with a service rep who told us that it was maintenance, which makes no sense. So, yes same issue but AT&T doesn’t seem to want to fix it.

another thing so called support staff should stop doing and wasting customers time is asking for make model of device etc..

no bearing on issue described and is merely way to delay answering question or admitting fault

East Bay Resident, San Leandro CA - I am using AT&T for cell phone service and I am experiencing very slow / next to no reception in many areas around San Leandro, even with a brand new iphone. I have noticed that the service has been getting worse in the past couple of months and will be looking into switching carriers, as other services do not have the same issue. Verizon and T Mobile seem to have full reception in the area.

Service in San Leandro, CA is HORRIBLE. 1-0 bars of service.... its frustrating. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like ATT cares much, as there are many old posts with the same issues. I am stuck in a contract, so I cannot change yet, but I would highly recommend another service if you live in this area. VERIZON is great in this area.

My whole family is having this issue as well. We are in the foothills a few hours east and my service has gotten slower and less responsive over the past few months. I am ready to start talking to other companies because I am over it and we have been with ATT for YEARS!!!
