Cell coverage in Puerto Rico.
Traveling to Puerto Rico. Will I be able to call and text both within Puerto Rico and back to the 48 US states? Does it require an add-on plan?

All 50 US states, the commonwealth of Puerto Rico, and US Virgin Islands are all domestic coverage.
This assumes you don’t have an antique regional plan.

Keep in mind that service may be minimal as they are slowly rebuilding after the hurricane. next door neighbors mom and dad live there and they have to walk about 10 miles from their home to get cell service at least thats how it was a couple months ago

Does anyone know if the above post is still accurate? I was just on AT&T chat and the agent told me I had to either buy a monthly international plan on $10/day International plan for Puerto Rico? Daughter is traveling there for two weeks in a few days and I need to know if she can use her phone or not.

@dluttrell The agent was wrong. The above posts are still accurate, ATT provides service in Puerto Rico.

We have seen post from people who were told Alaska and Hawaii required a roaming plan. As in the solution post, unless you have a very old regional plan, You are not roaming.
I do recall a post not long ago where a customer had a very old ‘northeast’ plan. He was charged for roaming in California and Hawaii.
If you’re still concerned, read your bill and tell us what your plan name is.
