ATT wireless coverage?

So apparently att has more bars, but it doesn't know what country your in. Charging me out of country overage fees even though I'm NOT actually out of the country.. Thanks a lot ATT.

Ps. El Paso, TX is in America, not Mexico.

Re: ATT wireless coverage?

El Paso, Tx also happens to be close to a border. It is not where your phone is located, it is what cell tower and carrier you are connected to. If your phone is connecting to a Mexican cell tower and carrier, then you are not on ATT's network.

@Cpate24 The radio waves don't stop at the border!

If you are on a Mobile Share plan or DirecTV Unlimited you can add Mexico for free.

Re: ATT wireless coverage?

Thanks @sandblaster that's what I figured it was. I may not be able to call my family without getting charged 1$ a minute, but at least I can chat with strangers on the ATT forum for free. Thanks ATT!

Re: ATT wireless coverage?

@Cpate24

You can change settings in your phone, under data usage or cellular network settings,  to not allow data roaming.  You might call ATT (611 from your mobile) and find out if your plan can have Mexico roaming at no charge.

If I knew what plan you were on OR if you needed help adding it, I'll help.  But if you're not on one of those plans...
