Unable to use Mobile Hotspot on Go Phone $45 (3GB) plan

Whenever I turn on the mobile hotspot on my phone (Go Phone $45 plan with 3GB data) and connect my tablet to it, i get the message:

" AT&T Free Msg: It looks like you want to use data but have none available. You may need to add a data package, refill to use pay per use data or change to a plan that supports data....".

My monthly plan just renewed, i have 3GB data available plus 2.2 GB of rollover. Why won't it let me connect?

I know the problem is not with my tablet because it's connecting fine to a Verizon smartphone's mobile hotspot.

Thanks.

Hello @reverseswing!

I am so sorry that your mobile hotspot is not working on your GoPhone! This is definitely a great feature to use and I will be more than happy to help figure out what is going on!

You are totally right, you definitely should be able to connect! It sounds like there may be a provisioning error on the account, which would prevent this from working (the IMEI may be incorrect, or the provisioning for hotspot use). Our GoPhone customer service should be able to get that fixed for you! They can be reached at 1-800-901-9878.

For specific information on how to set up mobile hotspot on your device, check out our Device Support Center! After selecting your make and model, choose Tutorials > Connectivity > Mobile hotspot (this may differ depending on phone model).

Let us know if you have any other questions! Have a wonderful day!

I should add that the solution that worked for me did not require any changes to the default APN.
