HOW TO SWITCH NEW ATT PHONE TO GO PHONE

I just bought a new ATT GoPhone and 90 day refill card but this phone apparently comes with a monthly plan because it's telling me it's only good for 30 days. How do I change it from a monthly plan to pay as you go plan.
