Also, is there a show that your friends can't believe that you've never seen?

Re: Why I Finally Started Watching Game of Thrones

When Game of Thrones first came out 7 years ago, seemingly everyone I knew was caught up in the hype - except me. It's not that I didn't try to watch the show (I started it at least 3-4 times), I just couldn't get it into it.

Initially, I blame my friends. They kept talking over the show and couldn't help but hinting at every possible future for everyone involved. Their play-by-play making sure I didn't miss anything meant that I missed everything.

Next, I'm not what I'll call a "Middle Earth" fan. Movies, TV shows, or any entertainment, I just wasn't a big fan of the shows setting and place in time. I kept watching that first episode and thinking it was too Lord of the Rings for me.

After that, I'm honestly not sure why I never got into it.

Fast forward 5 years later; I'm in the office sitting next to @ATTTimCS and all him and my other co-workers kept talking about was this great moment in GoT, or that one from the previous week. When they asked me what I thought, I had a deer in the headlights look. I had to tell them I've never seen it.

After they had me go to the doctors to get some blood work to make sure I wasn't ill first, they explained more about the show and I saw the error of my ways. I went home and practically binge watched the first season. From there, I've been hooked ever since.

Hey @ATTKevin, I remember that well Smiley Happy.  Don't beat yourself up though, I still haven't read the books.  I wish I liked to "read books" though, cause I feel left out of the smart people's conversation now.  They aren't totally similar after season 5 I guess, but as a fan of LOTR (Lord of the Rings), this is definitely a must watch show.  Just let the kids watch with you Smiley Happy
