Magic jack plus and nvg510 problems

I recently bought the magic jack plus and I am trying to set it up with my nvg 510 modem. I plugged the magic jack into my computer and installed it as the directions said. I got my phone number and subscribed to the 30 dollars a year unlimited local and long distance calling, then took the MJ out of my computer and plugged it in the wall and hooked it up to my nvg510 modem. I 1st plugged the MJ ethernet into the top slot of the nvg510 and waited.... nothing happened... then moved to the second slot, waited.. nothing happen. 3rd and 4th slot nothing happened. I though something should pop up to configure or something but I dont know whats going on. Does anyone know how to get this to work with this modem? I do not know much about computers i opened up network and it said ipv4, ipv5 VoIP and a bunch of other crap I have no clue what any of that means....
