AT&T U-verse ties with DIRECTV to top ACSI report.

According to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) report released May 20, 2014, both AT&T U-verse and DIRECTV share the top spot with a 69% rating in customer satisfaction among all subscription TV services.  Time Warner and Comcast share the bottom two spots at 56% and 60% respectively.

Keep in mind, however, that subscription TV service rank the second worst industry in overall customer satisfaction at 65%.  Internet service providers rank at the bottom with 63%.  TVs/DVD players and credit unions rank at the top with 85% each.

The part that's overlooked in that, and many other such surveys/lists, is how the "overbuilders" are perceived as better than the companies who strung the cable in the first place.

In the Midwest, WOW! Cable has consistently beat out Comcast, Time Warner and the other providers (like the old Insight in Ohio and RCN is Chicago) pretty much since they came into existence as Americast.  And that was even after Comcast and Time Warner got off their behinds and started adding channels and delving into digital cable, faster internet speeds, and providing phone service.

Just playing with the numbers for fun:

Average between DBS, AT&T and FiOS: 71.5% (2013), 68.25% (2014)

Average of the old guard: 63% (2013), 59.75% (2014)

Obviously bigger is not always better, according to those sampled.
