1080 to 720??

Recently, due to extremely high price increases in our original uverse TV package, we had to drop down to the package that only includes local channels. Its still $50-60 a month with DVR and all the phantom charges. I will probably completely cancel the TV service with them soon.

In the meantime, I have noticed that the quality of picture has declined. So I went to my TVs diagnostics to see what the incoming signal is... sure enough its 720p. When we first got Uverse a couple years ago, it was 1080i. Has this happened to anyone else? What's up?

The signal that the Set Top Box (STB) outputs is changable on the STB.  If you're connected to your TV with an HDMI cable, the TV and STB negotiate what it should be. If you're using Component cable, then you have to manually set it.  The setting may get lost on STB software updates.  Go to Menu > Options.
