Your AT&T access ID is an actual e-mail address, correct?
Have you tried chatting with a rep instead of calling? If you chat in via the AT&T website and ask for the ISM tech department, they can re-synchronize the information along with other steps to help get this taken care of.

I'm having the same problem. The particular AppleTV app asks for a provider, and when I enter Directv, it takes me to Directv site, but Directv doesn't recognize me. When I put in my ATT info, it opens up a new window to ATT, but I am unable to use my ATT info to activate my apps because they are connected to Directv.

And you are joint-billed, right?
You may need to chat in with a DirecTV rep so that they can re-synchronize your account information as well as take a look at the e-mail addresses that are associated with each account and make sure the correct one is being used.

Same issues here. Bottom line, several calls and several hours later, no one at tech support with ATT has a clue how to fix the problem. The merger killed the usability of directtv. Outrageous customer service and a crime to steal our money and not provide access.
