Use of Nokia c2-01 in AT&T 3G network

Hi,

I'm planning a trip to CO, WY, ID and UT in June/July and want to use my Nokia C2-01 for voice calls and, hopefully, text messages ( SMS as we call them ). I intend to install an AT&T prepaid SIM I am going to buy here in Germany through Prepaid Global.

Can I expect this idea to function ?

Thanks for a hopefully positive answer

There are 2 versions of this phone for GSM networks

UMTS 850 / 1900 / 2100.   This one will work, it has required 850 and 1900 bands.
UMTS 900 / 2100 / 1900. This one is missing the 850 band, so it may not work.

You are traveling to an area of the US where no carrier has good coverage.   You should not expect your cell phone to work due to lack of cell coverage.

Hi Lizdance40,

thanks for your quick reply.
On the device’s box I find the following data : WCDMA 900/1900/2100
GSM 850/900/1800/1900

I have used this phone in the areas I am going to already with a prepaid AT&T SIM in 2015 and a prepaid H2O SIM in 2016. With AT&T it worked okay, with H2O much worse.

I can’t find which frequencies it has after being switched to UMTS. If the frequencies remain the same as in GSM I should face no problems. Your answer to this issue will be gratefully appreciated.
