Radio

I just received the Samsung S7 Edge as a replacement phone for my HTC 9 and I have became aware that there is no FM radio feature on this phone. I did not insure my phone for the last few years in order to get a phone that doesn't provide me features that my old phone did. Is there a way to put FM radio on this phone because I do not have unlimited data at this time? If it does not have that capability then one thing I can assure you is I will be changing carriers because that feature is important to me especially during my workouts. thank you

The phone has a fm tuner you just need to download a app to make it work.  Download next radio and make sure the chip is active.  The phone needs to be on nougat for it to work.

In addition to @GLIMMERMAN76 correct answer, I will add ATT does not insure phones. Your insurance is with Asurion.  Your payments pass through ATT, but you are paying Asurion, NOT ATT.

Asurion would have sent you the same phone if they had one.  Since they did not, they sent you a phone with the same or better specs

Thank you I will call AT&T tomorrow to ask about the chip. I appreciate
your response. I will try to do something tomorrow because I really need a
radio due to not having unlimited data which is so expensive with AT&T.

Thank you very much for your response. I know who insures the phone it's
the feature I am looking for regardless of what kind of phone they sent me.
You try reaching Asurion let me know if you have any luck getting them
using their automated system.

Please unlimited data is cheap now...  I pay att a whopping 197.50 a month for 6 lines of unlimited data and 1 wearable line and get 25 bucks off my dtv bill a month and free hbo.  its a win win for me....  I pay 32.91 per line which no other carrier can beat right now.

Like I said download the next radio app and plug in your headphones and make sure the fm radio is active.  Customer care is not going to have a clue.

Can it be worse than ATT’s?  😖

I should have finished the thought....  if you ever have a problem with the replacement, contact Asurion right away.  Once in a while they send a dud.  That phone does have FM radio if you download Next Radio app.  No data stress.

I also have a limited plan and unlimited would be more $$

I have to apologize because I am just as Clueless as customer care would
be. Tomorrow is my 61st birthday and I am not electronic savvy. So when I
download next radio how do I make sure the n o u g a t is active and the FM
radio is active? I'm sorry to keep bothering you

Not a problem, no apologies needed...

if you open setting, scroll down to about phone, status,

it should show under ‘Android version’, 7.0 or better.   If you do not have it, then we will tackle that...

Then go to the Play store and search for the Next radio app, download and open.  It would not work without the current software.  It is required you plug in earbuds (as the antenna) for it to work.   I find a line in jack does not work, only physical ear buds or headphones.

Hello how are you today? I downloaded next radio and it does play. My
hopefully last question to bother you is is that going to use up my data
when I play the radio? Either way I am happy I at least have FM radio on my
phone now. Thank you so much for all your help and you have a blessed one.
