Galaxy 8 won't receive or send Bluetooth messages

Had to change IS from Windows to Android.  Now I can't receive or send messages via my car's Bluetooth.  Is there a secret to setting this up?  Or do I need a different kind of phone?

Hello @Floroyda47!

I hope you are enjoying your afternoon! Pairing your phone to your vehicle’s Bluetooth so you can send texts is a great feature to have. I often take advantage of this option as well. I will gladly help with this today!

Please go to our great Troubleshoot & Resolve tool to help get this working. Click Log in > sign into your myAT&T account > choose the make and model of the phone > Bloothooth > Vehicle interface or stereo, and follow the remaining steps until it works.

I’m glad I could be of assistance! Thank you and have a great evening.

Would your car be a Ford?  I have the same phone and a 2015 Ford and the Bluetooth works for calls and receiving text.  But no media and won’t send text.

Fords excuse is the phone is too new.  I suppose Samsung will say the same about your car.

Ford sync has a list of compatible devices, the S8 isn’t there yet.  Check Hyundai website to see if they support sync with your phone.

Of course iPhone works as it’s all the same software.

Good morning @Floroyda47!

I am going to have to agree with ACE @lizdance40 stated.  I went to Hyundai Bluetooth website and looked at the 2017 Elantra and it is not fully compatible with the Samsung Galaxy 8 at this time.

They had no listings online for the 2018 Elantra at this time.  As both the vehicle, and phone are new, I would say we have to wait for a future software update on both the vehicle and device.

As a suggestion, you can go to the Google Play Store and search for a third party Bluetooth texting app.  This way you will be able to use the program you choose to give you the feature you desire.

Thank you for reaching out via the Community Forums, and have a great weekend.
