Dial *61

My last bill came with a flyer stating "Call blocking just got easier - just dial *61 after an unwanted call. That's all it takes." I got an unwanted call on my cellphone, and dialed *61; I got the "att sound" and a voice that said "Your call cannot be completed as dialed" Do I actually have to answer an unwanted call to apply this feature? On the back of the flyer, there was a "weasel statement" (disclaimer) "geographic and service restrictions apply to AT&T services. Call or go to www.att.com to see if you qualify. So do I qualify or what"

Hello @PHICKEY1993,

Fantastic question! I will be happy to answer it!

You will need to dial *61 right after you get off the phone with the unwanted caller.  We have a great article which has information on using *61 to block calls as well as an informational video!

I hope this information helps! Have a fabulous day!

I was so happy when notified regarding the *6l blocking feature, as I receive MANY telemarketer calls. After using this feature for approximately one month, I have found that it not only blocks the last caller, but the caller after the last caller. I have, inadvertently, blocked one of my sons and my sister!  Each of them have called me on my cell phone to tell me they have been blocked when calling my landline. I would unblock them (*80). And then,  later they would call me and say they were blocked again. Very frustrating! Sis and I experimented and found out that if she called me AFTER a call I had blocked, she would be blocked , too.  I have  already watched your video.. Has this happened to anyone else? I would appreciate your help. Thank you.

Hello @Kettamac,

I’d love to help you out with this inquiry. In order to do this, would you be able to tell me which group are you referring to? Once I know, I can point you in the right direction. Smiley Happy

Like the subject says, my question is regarding the blocking feature *61. I'm confused. Did you see my question? I thought I would receive an answer on the Community page. I'm too frustrated to type it all over again. I guess I just don't understand your process.

Is it really so difficult to know what group I am in, when my post is about *61? I don't see my original post in here, but I will go ahead and make an additional comment.I have since discovered that when one dials *61 after a call they wish to block, ALL in-coming calls will be blocked, not just the last call. This is the message you will receive after entering *61. "The last number that called has been added to your call blocking list. Call Blocking is active." And then if your Mother calls after that, she will be blocked, too. Whattaya say about that?

I do not know the answer to that. I do not use *61 anymore. When one uses *61, you will hear a message:"Call blocking is activated"... and it will block ALL your calls. I'm doing fine without it. I have a male recordinganswering all my calls. When telemarketers hear this they usually hang up. I don't answer my phone unlessit's someone I know.

So, when  a particular number calls multiple times a day, which is totally annoying to our peace of mind, on a landline, what CAN we do to stop the calls!!! ATT must have a "*" number we can use! The robo calling is getting ridiculous and is actually noise pollution!
