Setting up

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your handset/smartphone. You will know if Bluetooth is on by the indicator symbol located at the top of the display.
  2. Confirm that the device (headset, printer, car, etc) you are wanting to pair with your handset is also turned on, and in “discoverable mode”. If you aren’t sure how to set your device to discoverable mode, please consult the user manual for the device.
  3. Pairing
    • Some devices will automatically pair, and this will be displayed by your Bluetooth icon on the phones display changing from light or faded, to dark or bold in color.
    • If your device does not automatically pair, you may be required to enter a code to connect the two devices. Please consult the accessory manual you are trying to pair for this information.
    • To confirm the pairing has occurred and the two devices are now linked, you can go to the handset’s Bluetooth menu. It will display what devices are currently connected to the handset.
      • If the devices are not paired, but the accessory is listed under your Bluetooth menu, select the accessory from the menu to begin the pairing process.

Troubleshooting

  1. Before starting, confirm both devices you are wanting to pair are:
    • Fully charged
    • Within 6 feet of each other – Although Bluetooth extends much farther, to rule out interference it is recommend that the initial pairing occur in close proximity
  2. Delete the paired device from the handset to allow for a fresh pairing
  3. Disable other Bluetooth devices not currently in use or wanting to be paired – these devices can connect in error or cause confusion in the process. Some devices also have limited connections available so other active devices can prevent your new device from connecting
  4. If you are near a WiFi router, move to another location to ensure there is no interference
  5. Power both devices completely off
    • Power the handset on first and ensure Bluetooth is enabled
    • Power the accessory on second and set to discoverable
    • Repeat Step 4 above in the Set Up section
  6. Confirm each device has the current Firmware installed

IPhone 6 Bluetooth pairing issue resolved-thanks for this great troubleshooting guidance. I spent a good deal of time searching for a resolution and followed the step-by-step guidance provided on the site without success. This troubleshooting piece solved the problem.
