iphone 6 can't receive texts, only iMessages

Mom has an iphone 6 that randomly, roughly 4 days ago, stopped receiving all text messages (not iMessages, those are fine).  Texts from android users, texts from AT&T saying the bill is ready for viewing, etc. do not come into the phone. Yet they do show up in the AT&T account overview online.  Imessages are working fine.  Also, she can SEND via text message to droid users and they receive them.  But when they reply, it doesn't come to the iphone.

I have checked that "Send as SMS" is on.  I have verified that send&receive shows her apple ID and phone number (I've even signed out and back in). There is no message forwarding set up to be concerned with.  I've reset the network settings.  I've deleted all messages and rebooted.  I've rebooted again, and again.  Still, SMS regular text messages aren't coming in.

Is there any other fix?  At this point I can't determine whether it is an Apple or an AT&T issue.

Thanks!

Hello @ deantha!

I am sorry to hear your mom is unable to receive text messages on her iPhone 6. I will be happy to help with a resolution!

Thank you for sharing the steps you have tried so far. You will want to check the phone is updated to the latest version of iOS. Also, look for a possible Carrier Settings update available.

Regular SMS messages require having a cellular connection; please make sure the phone connects to the network properly.

If the issue persists, I recommend you to visit our useful Troubleshoot & Resolve tool for additional steps. Please select the Make/Model of the phone > under Service/Network issues, click on Messaging and complete the guide.

I hope this information helps to resolve the messaging concern. If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Happy New Year!
