I'm trying to internet tether through a manual IP address, Subnet Mask, Gateway and primary DNS for a non att device through my att trek k88 device?

Hi there @TheBeautiful1!

Excellent question and being a bit of a networker myself, I can definitely understand the desire to run through a manual IP address! Static IPs are great for network security and being able to stay on top of what comes and goes through your network.

It’s with some regret that I tell you that Static IP assignment isn’t possible through standard software on mobile hotspot devices. Since they are designed to be mobile and connect to various towers, it requires that they have the DHCP network connection so that they can change IP as they move around the nation.

My sincerest apologies for any frustration. Let me know if you have any other questions and I hope you have a great day!

I want to use OpenDNS to filter websites but their software found that the IP address for DNS through the hotspot is not the same as the IP address for http on port 80. OpenDNS will not connect to my computers even if they all use a manual DNS address to OpenDNS servers rather than ATT.net. The result is that it ignores the DNS that I manually set on my devices.

Do you know if I can use a proxy to go around this? Someone mentioned using DNScrypt to do it.
