I don't have a wifi connection which is preventing me from getting software updates. How can I get updates without wifi connection?

Hello @Whyfie,

Thank you for informing us. Unfortunately, there is no option available to Download the latest software update for your device over your cellular data connection. You must connect your device to Wi-Fi to download the update. Please let us know if you have any further questions or concerns.

Hello, @Whyfie,

We'd love to help with this. Here are things to know about updating the software on your AT&T device. Take a look at the requirements. A Wi-Fi connection is required for some updates though not all of them. If you meet the requirements listed, could you let us know what type of device you have? Thank you!

I'm on a Samsung Galaxy prime Express. I have no wifi but unlimited data.
Is there away to get updates using data? None of the the scenarios you
mentioned apply to my device.

I’m sorry but that’s just ridiculous. Some people just don’t have Wi-Fi, like me, I live in the middle of nowhere with no option for Internet, why, because no companies offer it where i am, not even Hughes Net!  What really (Edited per community guidelines) me off about this is that when I first got my device I was able to update everything using cellular data. What really (Edited per community guidelines) me off about this is do you guys took that away and didn’t even leave a secondary option for those like myself who aren’t as privileged as some to have actual Internet in my house. You guys are despicable and I know what you’re doing, you’re trying conserve data, and that’s great and all, conserving and whatnot, BUT, when it is greatly affecting your loyal paying customer’s experience/overall quality of service, you’ve got to come to a point and recognize/be capable of recognizing when conserving just might not be worth it. Or maybe it is worth it to you since I am(my situation) by far the minority, Which I’m sure is a very minute number in comparison to those who have Internet wifi access.  And there’s my answer right there as to why you guys are doing it the way you are… You only care about the vast majority because that’s where the money is at, where the numbers are at.  But little guys like me, who cares about us, you’ve made that extremely clear. Removing/taking away the option for your paying customers to download updates using cellular data, grossly & carelessly leaving us with only one option to gain access to software updates all in the name of conserving company data. I can’t wait till my contractors over with you guys I am finished with you.

If its a samsung phone deny the update 3 times and it will install on its own.  If its apple you can force it.

This is the most (Edited per community guidelines)ed up thing by Att. Some people have just enough money to afford a Unlimited plan and not their expensive (Edited per community guidelines) wifi. Just another one of their dumb marketing strategies. So stupid. Smh

Does anyone know if Verizon does this nonsensical practice? I can download 5gb games and stream video and music all day but the only thing that I can't do is download OS updates? (Edited per community guidelines)? What's the point of all thos unlimited 5g data then?
