@bonnielaber, do you have the issue just at home, or does it occur in all locations? Sounds like you've had this phone for 18 months. Have you had the problem since getting the phone?

If the problem is in your home only, then you may benefit from a microcell: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB95597#fbid=vHiROW4c98R

If it is the phone, which you can test by following @wilcre instructions, and your phone is less than a year old, visit http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=55020#fbid=vHiROW4c98R

Otherwise, you may be eligible for early upgrade: http://www.att.com/esupport/article.jsp?sid=KB114184&_requestid=243449#fbid=vHiROW4c98R

Hope this helps!

Try your simcard in another phone and see if the issue follows the simcard, you could also try a different simcard in your phone to see if the issue can be duplicated on your phone, if your simcard works in another phone but a different AT&T simcard does not work in yours then it is the phone, if the opposite happens then it is your simcard, so 1 of 2 things would have to be done change out the simcard or file a warranty/insurance claim for the phone.

Do you mean your upgrade eligibility is in 6 months or your contract end date is in 6 months? If it's your contract end date you may be ready for an upgrade.
In any case, this is a situation where a call to 611 should be helpful.

How do you test your phone?

Swap simcards with another phone and see if the issue follows you or stay with your phone.
