Samsung s8 plus advanced messaging problem
While text messaging a friend on AT&T, the notification of when a person is typing goes over your last message received making it impossible to read while someone else is typing....this becomes particularly annoying during a group message. Please fix this problem.

Hello @Shanobuff,
Thanks for posting to the Community Forums! I know how awesome Advanced Messaging can be, and wouldn’t want for you to miss out on enjoying it. I’d be more than happy to assist you with this.
I would first recommend trying to turn off Advanced Messaging and restarting the device. After the phone boots back up, turn Advanced Messaging back on and restart it one more time. To access, Advanced Messaging go to the Messages App > Select the 3 dots > Settings > Advanced Messaging > Off/On.
I also suggest checking your software to make sure it’s the latest version. If it isn’t up-to-date, some features may not work as they should. You can do this by selecting Tutorials > Device Topics > System & storage > Software update > Update & verify software. Once there, you will be able to update if necessary.
I hope you found this information useful. Have a great rest of your day!

Hello @Shanobuff,
I’m sorry to hear the previously provided steps didn’t help resolve the issue. We can try a factory reset to get this taken care of.
This can be done using our Device Support Tool. Once there, select your device then View all solutions > Troubleshooting > Reset Device. Be aware, factory resets will erase all your personal data. It is best to backup your information before proceeding with the reset.
To backup the device, I would recommend using Samsung Smart Switch, this is a PC/Mac application which can backup and restore information. You will want to restore your data after the reset, if you so choose.
If this doesn’t work, the only other option would be to wait for a software update for this model of phone to patch the issue.
I do apologize for any inconveniences this may have caused. I hope you have a good rest of your day.

Hello again @Shanobuff,
I completely understand not wanting to perform a factory reset on your device; this was just to try and resolve the issue immediately. The next remaining option would be to wait for a software update to patch the issue. Until then I would recommend turning Advanced Messaging off.
I’ll be sure to pass this information along the proper channels for you to make sure we can get this looked into. I apologize again for any inconveniences this may have caused. If you have any further questions, please feel free to let me know. I would be more than happy for you.
I wish you an amazing rest of your day!

I have that and a different issue. Randomly I wont receive text messages from people. No particular person, time, or carrier. I talked to AT&T and was told to reboot my phone. Like I haven't tried that, uninstalled the factory messages app, tried different ones, and a factory reset. The answer I got was to turn advanced messaging off. Great, pay 800+ for each phone, 500 a month for service and they tell my not to use a service they provide. Good job AT&T.
